Hugh McCutcheon, the celebrated coach who led the 2008 Olympic men’s volleyball team on its historic gold-medal run, has a new cause to champion – the fight against domestic violence. McCutcheon will be the spokesman for Human Option’s 2009 Men’s Task Force  program, “100 Men, 1, Voice, 1 Campaign.”

McCutcheon led his team to victory despite the family tragedy that occurred on the first night of the games, when his father-in-law was murdered. He is now speaking on behalf of other victims of violence: those who face it in their own homes.

The Men’s Task Force was formed in 2004 under the leadership of Gary VanArnam, senior vice president Wealth Advisory, Northern Trust and the 100 Men, 1 Voice, 1 Campaign is relaunched every October for Domestic Violence Awareness month to attract new support.

The Men’s Task Force aims to promote awareness of domestic violence among men while encouraging them to get involved. Funds raised through the campaign support Jason’s Story – a youth violence prevention program – and activities for the families of Human Options. In five years, the campaign has raised $216,000. This year’s fundraising goal is $50,000.
