Turning the Tide Against Domestic Violence Through Legal Assistance

Approximately 1.3 million women and 835,000 men are physically assaulted by an intimate partner in the United States each year.[1] Female survivors of domestic violence lose almost 13.6 million days of productivity due to violence every year—that is over eight million days of paid work, or 32,000 full time jobs[2]. Domestic violence is a complex issue, and at Human Options we have always worked to offer a holistic range of services to our clients to encompass that complexity. Among those is our Legal Advocacy Program, which provides legal information and resources to survivors of domestic violence. A new article by Fox News is one of several recent publications indicating that…

Breaking the Cycle of Teen Dating Violence through Leadership

The month of February was recognized as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention month. The community educators focused on teaching middle and high school students, educators, and parents how to be social leaders through what is called the “Bystander Approach.” They sought to empower the most influential and involved students through their LAB workshop (Leaders as Active Bystanders). This one-of-a-kind workshop empowered over 100 Irvine High School…
