Turning the Tide Against Domestic Violence Through Legal Assistance

Approximately 1.3 million women and 835,000 men are physically assaulted by an intimate partner in the United States each year.[1] Female survivors of domestic violence lose almost 13.6 million days of productivity due to violence every year—that is over eight million days of paid work, or 32,000 full time jobs[2]. Vivian’s Farewell

By Vivian Clecak, retiring CEO and Founder of Human Options Last week I visited the resident council for our Second Step transitional housing program. As I listened to the stories of our clients, I was touched by their words – “Human Options saved my life. I do not know if I would have lived through the next beating.” “Thanks to Human Options, I can be the mother I always wanted to be. My son was always telling me, ‘Mama, I don’t want you to be sad.’ Now we both smile.” “I never knew there was a place like this. I thought shelters were scary places full of metal cots. My…

In a career filled with a trophy case of accomplishments, being named one of Orange County’s true entrepreneurs was a crowning achievement. “A big night for our Founding CEO, Vivian Clecak and an equally big night for Human Options, an organization that sets the gold standard for…
