Over 70% of our budget is funded by private donations. Donations allow us to provide women and children who have experienced abuse with safety, healing and a way forward. Contributions also fund counseling, legal advocacy, education programs, and elder abuse prevention.Every $100 provides one family with one full day of safety and healing at our emergency shelter. You can make a one-time gift or make it recurring – $5 a week adds up to $260 in one year and only $10 a month equals $120 at year-end. Donations can be made electronically or by check. We accept all major credit cards (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa). Every gift helps!

Our Men in Motion and Sisterhood groups offer a place for like-minded individuals to come together, share their passion and truly make a difference.
Sisterhood is a community of women that meets four times a year to complete hands-on projects to benefit Human Options’ shelter and residential clients, who are survivors of domestic violence.
Our 2020 meetings have been set! Please join us on: February 19th – Rainy Day Essentials , April 29th – Mom Relax Activity Bag, August 5th – Back-to-School Drive and November 18th – Thanksgiving Meal Box Drive.
Men in Motion
Men in Motion is a group of businessmen and male community leaders taking a public stand against domestic violence. They are committed to raising awareness around domestic violence issues. Since 2004, they have provided over $500,000 to support our local community education programs. Each year, they make an annual contribution and are recognized in a local advertisement.

For the safety of our volunteers, staff, and families we serve, we have currently put a hold on all volunteer on-boarding due to COVID-19. We hope to resume volunteer opportunities soon! For more information, please contact 949-737-5242 ext. 317.
Due to the confidential nature of our work, volunteer opportunities are limited to emergency hotline volunteers and/or attorneys interested in providing pro bono legal services in the areas of Family Law and Immigration. A description of each volunteer opportunity is below:
Hotline volunteers help answer hotline calls and document each call. Emergency hotline volunteers are asked to do at least one, 3 hour shift per week. All hotline volunteers are mandated by the State of California to complete a 40 hour domestic violence awareness training before being eligible to volunteer.
Human Options offers the 40 hour domestic violence awareness training twice a year (Spring and Fall). For more information about this training and when it is being offered next, please visit our Events page.
Pro Bono Services
Human Options Legal Advocacy program greatly benefits from the pro bono services provided by attorneys. Many of our existing pro bono partners provide services in the areas of Family Law and Immigration. Opportunities include volunteering at a monthly legal clinic and representing clients pro bono in court. Human Options provides introductory training for attorneys interested in volunteering, but are not familiar with domestic violence.
