Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are welcomed and needed at all of our sites and we have numerous positions throughout Human Options. Here are list of places volunteers can participate:
Emergency Shelter Hotline*
Work with Legal Advocate at Community Resource Center*
Second Step Transitional Living Program**(group activities with children from toddlers to teens)
Children’s Program at Emergency Shelter** (Preschool & Infant – teens & tutoring)
Handyman
Lawyers (to work pro-bono)
Dentists (to help families with dental care)
Administrative (to help with mailings and answering phones)
*requires 40-hour volunteer training completion
**requires Childrens’ Program volunteer training completion

NOTE: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to work directly with clients and in most cases must complete a state mandated 40-hour training. Individuals wishing to work within the children’s program only must be at least 16 years old and complete the 8 hour children’s program training. Click to learn how to register to volunteer.
Please note that in order to volunteer directly with our clients you must complete a state mandated 40-hour training. We hold these training twice a year. General information about this training appears below along with a link to a more detailed training schedule.

40 Hour State Mandated Volunteer Workshop
Twice a year we provide a volunteer training workshop to anyone interested. It is held Fridays and Saturdays on 3-4 consecutive weekends. For more information on the workshop and how to register see: Volunteer Training April 2013
Upon completion you will receive a certification as mandated by California Evidence Code Section 1037.1. Contact glibby@humanoptions.org for further information and registration.
NOTE: This class meets the qualifications for 3 hours continuing education credits for MFT and LCSW professionals. No refunds given for non-attendance; class can be re-taken at a later date.
