ABOUT THE EXHIBIT:
Second Step was selected by the City of Costa Mesa to be a part of a year-long children’s art gallery currently on display at City Hall located at 77 Fair Drive in Costa Mesa. The exhibit is free to the public and Second Step artwork will be on display throughout the month of March, 2010.
Art is an important part of our children’s therapy program. Working through various mediums, children can express their emotions through color, drawing, sculpting, photography and various other art therapy methods.
The four-panel display currently on exhibit illustrates the dark, gloomy, fearful outlook many of our families enter Second Step with and the bright, hopeful, happy outlook they have when graduating from this program. Families at Second Step receive on-going individual and group counseling, case management, and life skills training while living within a gated community. Many of these families continue a close connection with each other as well as with Human Options upon graduating from this year long program.
