Our holiday were happy for our clients thanks to community supporters like Alpha Omicron Pi.
This summer Michael Traver chose the emergency shelter for his Eagle Scout service project. Michael, a member of Eagle Scout Troop 772, and his father, Robert Traver, began construction on a new sandbox play area at the shelter. We needed a toy box, new sand, and benches for the moms to sit on while they watch their kids play in the sand. Michael donated about 200 hours of his time and raised his own money to build the benches, buy new sand and toy box. He also contacted Waste Management who donated a large trash bin for the debris.
In early August his Eagle Scout Troop and Dana Hills High School Water Polo Team came and cleaned up the area, drilled to get a huge piece of concrete out of the way that was in the old sand box, added new sand, and sifted sand to make it clean. I am so thankful for Michael and his father and all volunteers who gave so much of their time and hard work to create this wonderful new play area for the children.
