Human Options is proud to offer valuable clinical counseling and program internship experiences to bachelor and graduate level students. Our interns play an integral role in Human Options’ mission to end the cycle of relationship violence.

Master in Social Work (MSW) interns provide an array of community and residential services including support groups, individual counseling, psychoeducation groups, family counseling, children’s counseling, senior adult counseling, outreach, and prevention.

“Through their work, our MSW interns bring healing and safety to those seeking services, and their hard work helps Human Options expand our services so we are able to have a greater impact,” says Rose Robles, Therapeutic Program Supervisor.

Children’s program interns/volunteers Stephanie Palmer and Sarah Abigail Bautista holding Molly, Dina the Dinosaur, and Wally from the Incredible Years curriculum.

In our children’s program, volunteers are in charge of leading evidence based curriculums, therapeutic art and child-centered play during the program.

“The children are incredibly bright, creative, and full of goals and they bring a lasting smile and joy each day I am blessed to work here,” says Stephanie Palmer, Children’s Program Volunteer. “I have grown so much as an individual and as a child advocate!”

In addition, volunteers also work on independent projects including the creation of new materials for our program and improving day-to-day processes.

“Our children’s program interns and volunteers do a wonderful job of providing a safe space for the children in our residential programs to learn healthy ways of expressing themselves and interacting with others,” says Rosana Nava, Residential Therapeutic Program Supervisor. “We value the hard work, insight, and passion they bring with them day to day.”

Thank you, interns for all your hard work and support you’ve given to survivors of relationship violence!
