Legacy Campaign Honoring Vivian Clecak - Human Options

Join with us to Honor Vivian and Sustain her Legacy

Vivian Clecak 683x1024 pixelsA young social worker in Orange County in the late 1970’s, Vivian Clecak was stunned by the stories she heard of women being abused in their own homes.  Determined to make a difference, she co-founded Human Options in 1981 and has passionately led the organization for 34 years.

From the earliest days, Vivian has been a pioneer in effectively responding to domestic violence issues in our community.  Accomplishments include the following:

  • In 1984 Human Options became the first organization in Orange County to provide relationship violence prevention programs to high school students.
  • In 1993 Human Options was first to open a transitional housing program for women and their children escaping abuse.
  • In 1996 through an unprecedented public-private partnership, Human Options became the first organization to build an emergency shelter specifically designed for this purpose.

As Vivian prepares to retire in January 2016, we are honoring her incredible impact through a Legacy Campaign that will ensure sustainability of Human Options and acknowledge all she has done for our community.

This momentous Campaign has two components:

Bridge to the Future Fund – $1M goal to be achieved by May 2016 to honor Vivian and ensure continued organizational sustainability.

Swayne Family Endowment Challenge $1M goal achieved in September 2015, thanks to a generous Challenge Grant from the Swayne Family.

We invite your support of the Legacy Campaign.  For more information and how to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime effort to honor Vivian’s legacy, please contact Nora Caldwell at 949-737-5242 x211 or NCaldwell@humanoptions.org
