HUMAN OPTIONS APPOINTS AMY HYTOWITZ TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Human Options, an Orange County-based nonprofit dedicated to ending the cycle of relationship violence, recently announced a new addition to its Board of Directors, Amy Hytowitz, senior director of global communications for Edwards Lifesciences.
Hytowitz brings more than 20 years of experience working as a communication strategist. As the senior director of global communications at Edwards Lifesciences, Hytowitz is focused on strategic communications and thought leadership activities helping to bring awareness to Edwards’ patient-focused medical innovations for structural heart disease and critical care monitoring.
“Human Options has a unique opportunity to change the conversation around relationship violence, focusing on prevention and healing while deepening awareness about an issue that threatens everyone,” said Hytowitz. “By bringing my experience in communications, along with witnessing firsthand the impact of relationship violence, I believe I can passionately elevate Human Options’ programs and services, and ultimately serve more people.”
Hytowitz joined Edwards in January 2019 after spending the prior year serving as a consultant in her own firm, Empathic Communications, with life sciences clients. Prior to Empathic, she led the Southern California health team at global communications marketing firm, Edelman, where she oversaw a team focused on developing programs to motivate stakeholders to take action. In her two decades working at agencies, Hytowitz has supported all facets of communications for public health organizations, medtech and pharmaceutical companies. Earlier in her career, Hytowitz worked in the high technology sector and as a counselor at a women’s health center.
Hytowitz earned her B.A. from the University of Arizona. She stays active outside of work volunteering her time as a founding parent of her sons’ school and with nonprofits that benefit women and children.
“We are thrilled to welcome Amy to our Board of Directors, where we are excited to use her professional experience to further the organization’s mission,” said CEO of Human Options Maricela Rios-Faust. “We are very fortunate to have her on our team as she acts as a trusted partner to those at Human Options, allowing for productive and honest dialogue in order to further the organization’s goal, ensuring everyone in Orange County experiences safe, healthy relationships and lives free of fear.”
