Before finding Human Options, Sol spent most of her life in survival mode. Growing up without support shaped a childhood filled with instability that continued into adulthood. When her mother moved across the country, Sol suddenly had nowhere to go. Housing instability struggles with substance use, and relationship violence, all compounded over the years, which ultimately led to her losing custody of her four children. Despite everything, Sol still held onto hope. Sharing, “My past does not define me. I’m ready to get back to work for a better future—for me, and my children.”
Sol was connected to a Human Options case manager at her local family resource center, who recognized the depth of her need for support. Through the Family Resource Center, Sol began accessing parenting classes, diaper distribution, transportation assistance, and programs that helped them care for her toddler while rebuilding her confidence. Each connection and resource created new opportunities for Sol to stabilize and begin healing.
As Sol engaged with our services, her growth became clear. She showed up early to every appointment, learned the bus system so she could travel independently, and asked questions with genuine determination to improve her life. Sol’s parenting significantly improved over time. Sol began seeking help from staff, an important step that reflected real emotional change. Everything she did showed her desire to break cycles of trauma and create a different future for her family.
Sol remains committed to healing. She is working on her parenting, mental health, and housing goals while staying focused on long-term stability. What makes Sol’s story so inspiring is not just her resilience but her choice to keep moving forward despite every barrier she’s faced. Her journey is a powerful reminder of how support, compassion, and trauma‑informed care can help a survivor rebuild her life with dignity and hope.
