Teens and moms from the Newport Beach Chapter of the National Charity League helped us kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month this week by volunteering at our #SHINETHELIGHT Walking Vigil at Lions Park in Costa Mesa. For the first time, community members helped set up the vigil, as NCL volunteers placed luminaries and story panels along the vigil’s pathway, each one honoring the journey of a survivor or remembering a life lost. NCL volunteers helped created a space for reflection, healing, and transformation.
NCL has long supported Human Options at our residential sites, and this new role deepens their commitment. Moms and teens worked side by side to shine the light on relationship violence in Orange County and tell a story of healing and hope. Special thanks to Stephanie Thorp for organizing the volunteers and helping bring this vision to life.
