Real conversations. Candid perspectives. Stories that stay with you. Courage Over Comfort brings together survivors, advocates, and experts to explore the realities of relationship violence, and what it takes to deepen our understanding and create lasting change.
In this episode, we came together to explore the often-overlooked connection between relationship violence and housing insecurity. Courage Over Comfort created space for an honest dialogue about what it means for survivors to seek safety while facing the very real risk of homelessness.
Through this conversation, we examined how survivors are often forced to make impossible choices between staying in unsafe situations or stepping into uncertainty without stable housing. Our panelists, Betty Martinez Franco, Councilmember, business owner, and survivor, alongside Zulima Lundy from the Office of Care Coordination, shared insights on the systemic barriers that contribute to this crisis, as well as the critical role of survivor-centered housing solutions in breaking cycles of violence.
From stories of resilience to discussions of innovative housing models and community collaboration, this episode underscored a powerful truth: safe, stable housing is not just a need; it is a lifeline.
